Spirituality – Love for God

What is the purpose of life?

Do you just want to have a family, have sex, have children, eat, defecate and sleep?  All animals do this. You are not an animal, but an intelligent human being. There is a purpose in life. Are you going to while away your life gathering power, wealth, and assets? Life must mean more then this mundane existence? Have you thought, why you exist on this Earth? Some people think it is all a coincidence. Everything in nature has a purpose. Look around you, there is an abundance of food and water. Fruits, seeds, vegetables are there in abundance for all men to share with the living creatures on Earth.

The purpose of man is to go to the next level in their evolution, Divinity. What do you need to get there? Start by cutting down all your desires that are selfish. Check on all your belief systems. Start doing selfless service to anything or anyone you are guided towards. Start doing some sadhana (spiritual practice) daily. It could be anything that you are guided to do. Some examples are meditation, mantras (sacred sounds or words to keep the mind and body focussed in the moment), japa (chanting the name of your Beloved form of God using a japmala or rosary, use the thumb and middle finger of your right hand to move the beads of your mala, as you pronounce your Mantra or affirmation distinctly and clearly).

Getting Closer to God

There are other things you can do to help you get closer to God. Become a vegetarian. When you eat meat, or fish, you have become an accomplice to their killing and absorb part of the samskara (debit and credit of memory in the game of life) for their deaths. Also, the flesh of animals has a lower vibration and will affect you.

Thoughts, words and deeds are important in your life. Control your thoughts. Try to keep your thoughts pure and let go of any negative thoughts. Think about what you say before you say it. Don’t say anything that is hurtful to others. Once you make a promise adhere to it. When you do something, think carefully before you do it. Once it is done, you cannot undo it.

Choose a name or form of God that you love. This is the vehicle that will take you to God. It can be any name, or form. Focus on that name, or form. For example, it can be Jesus, Sai Baba or Allah. You must trust and belief in that form. It is the name, or form that will take you to God, as you are investing all your energy there. Don’t have any doubts in that name, or form, because all names and forms are God.

Devotional singing

Devotional songs are a good way to connect to God. When you feel Love or Joy while singing, you know that you have connected to God. TRUST and have FAITH. Don’t doubt in your intuition, it is God communing with you.
